Ben was a talented guitar player, having played in the praise band at church, and loved all kinds of music. Ben was also gifted in mechanical drawing and designed motorcycle parts among other things. He had a passion for military aircrafts and, as a teenager, studied them endlessly. He enjoyed all the family pets that came into his life and had a beautiful smile.

Ben was adored by his family who will miss him very much. Survivors include: his mother and step father: Janis and Randy Howman of Crestline; his father and step mother: Woody and Bev Gearhart of Tennessee; a half-brother: Seth Howman of Crestline; a half-sister: Elizabeth Howman of Galion; 2 step brothers: Randy Howman II and Brent Cope; 2 step sisters: Alaina Winans and Brooke Steagall; maternal grandparents: David and Judy Kaylor of Tiro; step grandmother: Norma Jean Howman of Shelby; and aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
