Hazel E. Crabbs, age 96, formerly of 24 Mansfield Ave., Shelby, died Sunday afternoon in the Heritage Care Center after a short illness. She was born February 16, 1892 in Crawford County, Ohio, the daughter of William and Lumetta Belle (Dwire) Setterfield.
Mrs. Crabbs is survived by 3 sons: Robert Crabbs of Riverview, Florida; Donald Crabbe of Akron; and James Kuston of Plymouth; 1 sister Twyla Heneveld of Sun City, Arizona; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 3 daughters: Zona Crabbs, Ruth Crabbs, Florine Miller; 5 brothers and 1 sister.
Mrs. Crabbs was the owner of the Broadway Grocery from 1930 to 1943 and had been an employee of the Shelby Novelty Co. retiring in 1971. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Rebecca Circle and the Womens Benefit Association.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Turner Funeral Home with her grandson the Rev. William H. Crabbs officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home.
