Jannie L. (Ramey) Smith, age 74, of Shelby, died Tuesday morning, January 18, 2022 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following a long-term illness.

Jannie was born February 23, 1947 in Paintsville, KY to the late George A. and Mary Lee (Click) Ramey. She was a former employee of Hi-Sat Manufacturing Company in Lexington. Jannie enjoyed sewing and was an avid reader. She absolutely adored children. It did not matter if they were her own or someone else’s, she simply enjoyed caring for them. Jannie was a member of Clay Memorial Lutheran Church.

On November 23, 1965 Jannie married her husband of 55 years, Philip Smith, and he survives. Also surviving are her children: Richard (Heather) Smith of Lewis Center, Paul (Deena) Smith of Tiffin, Trina (Chad) Klingelsmith of North Fairfield, Scott (Francine) Smith of Rock Hill, SC, Machelle Litteral of Shelby; 9 grandchildren: Zach, Aiden, Cruz, Dannah, Owen, Justin, Dylan, Camron, and Arianna; two great grandchildren: Brogan and Briella; siblings: George Ramey (Don Washington), Vickie (Jerry) Rose, Delores (Dan) Moore, and Kathy (Tim) Stevens; brother in law: Joe (Leony) Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 10-11 am at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will immediately follow at 11 am. Rev. Carol Kilgore will officiate and burial will follow in Little London Cemetery, Shelby.
