Justin Isaiah Dylan Smith, age 44, of Shelby, died Thursday afternoon, November 27, 2025 at OhioHealth Shelby Hospital’s Emergency Department. Although Justin’s death was unexpected, it follows an extended illness.

Justin was born March 5, 1981 in Shelby and attended Shelby City Schools. He was an avid collector of a variety of items throughout his life- antique toys, radios, swords, model trains, and arrowheads, to name a few. He also enjoyed outdoor activities, especially hiking and fishing.

Justin loved time spent with family and those left to cherish his memory are his mother and step-father: Rose and Earl Adkins of Shelby; father and step-mother: Harold and Jan Smith of Butler; sisters: Lisa (Alan) Flowers of Guam and Shawndi Dininger of Mansfield; step-sister: Cari Vaughn; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

A gathering with family and friends will be held  on Sunday, December 7, 2025 from 2-4 pm at the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, OH 44875.  Burial will take place in Greenlawn Cemetery in Greenwich.
