Kenneth Joseph Krietemeyer, age 78, of Shelby, passed away naturally yet unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at his home.

Born August 30, 1946 in Lima to the late Leonard T. and Julitta E. (Schroeder) Krietemeyer, Ken graduated from Shelby High School in 1964. A veteran of the United States Army, Ken served his country from January 1966-December 1967 being stationed primarily in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, Ken worked for some time in an oil field.  He later embarked on a career in tool and die, first as an apprentice at Miller Tool & Die which he later owned and operated, renaming it Krietemeyer Tool & Die.  He would go on to work at Phillips Manufacturing for a brief time and ultimately retired from the “Tuby” after 11 years of service in 2013.

For hobbies he enjoyed hunting and fishing, liked antiquing, and was an avid coin collector. He also was a member of the Shelby Knights of Columbus. Most importantly, Ken was a devoted husband and caretaker to his late wife, Clara B. (Rosier) Krietemeyer.

Ken is survived by his children: Michelle Krietemeyer (Michael Lindenberger), Michael Krietemeyer, David Krietemeyer, and Scott (Theresa) Krietemeyer; grandchildren: Joseph Williams, Megan Lindenberger, Kathryn Lindenberger (Logan Hamilton), Jacob Krietemeyer, Jaclyn Krietemeyer, Isabella Sefcek, Danielle Krietemeyer, Lauren Krietemeyer, Sara Krietemeyer, and Emma Krietemeyer; siblings: Mark (Becky) Krietemeyer, Karen (Bill) Rieman, Janet (Craig) Studer, and Linda Mitchell (Joe August); brother-in-law: Tom Culp; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Ken was preceded in death by his sister: Marilyn Culp.

Family and friends are welcome on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 4-6 pm at the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 1 pm with Fr. Chris Mileski officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail immediately following the funeral service. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery, Shelby. Memorial contributions may be left to the Shelby Foundation (theshelbyfoundation.org/donate/).
