Leonard J. “Tony” Fenner, age 96, a lifelong resident of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at The Willows at Willard.

Born June 3, 1929, in Plymouth, Leonard was the son of the late Carl and Mary (Fazio) Fenner. A proud 1947 graduate of Plymouth High School, Leonard’s roots in the community ran deep. On October 22, 1948, he married the love of his life, Kayrol (McGinty) Fenner, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned 64 years until her passing in October of 2012.

Leonard was a faithful, lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where his faith guided him throughout his life, and was instrumental in the building of the current church. A hardworking and determined businessman, Leonard founded Fenner Plumbing & Heating on March 25, 1958, building a business that served the community for decades. Before starting his own company, he worked at New Haven Supply. In 1994, Leonard “retired” but continued to work alongside his son, Brian, for many years following.

A lifelong baseball fan, Leonard’s love for the game went beyond the stands — he even tried out for the St. Louis Browns in 1947. Above all else, Leonard treasured his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather, cheering as often as he could for any activity, sporting event, or milestone.

Leonard is survived by his children: Lynn (James) Hook of Princeton, IN, Lee (Ann) Fenner of Mansfield, Terry (Cherril) Fenner of Bellville, Karen (Ray) Hughes of Phoenix, AZ, Karla (Drew) Taylor of Leland, NC, Steve (Elaine) Fenner of Willard, Brian (Kyle) Fenner of Shelby, Jeff (Jill) Fenner of Shelby, and Beth Fenner (Aaron Raitch)  of Plymouth; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his brother: Tony Fenner; sisters: Mary Lichtle, Sallie Carney, Carolyn Predieri, and Carmella Fink; granddaughter: Dana Frankart; and great-granddaughter, Mahryah Murphy.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at The Willows at Willard for the compassion, care, and kindness shown to Leonard and his family.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 119 Sandusky Street, Plymouth. Leonard’s Funeral Mass will begin at noon, with Fr. Chris Mileski celebrating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Care for Leonard and his family is being provided by Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Condolences may be shared on the funeral home’s website at PenwellFuneralHome.com or on its Facebook page.
