Leslie J. “Les” Albright, age 81, of Shelby, died Monday, January 20, 2025 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following a two-year illness.

Les was born March 25, 1943 in Shelby and graduated from Shelby High School in 1961. His 40-year career was spent at the Shelby Salesbook Company from where he retired under the Miami Systems ownership. Less than a week following retirement, Les began at Shelby Hardware where he worked for nearly 15 years until ultimately retiring in January of 2020.

Les is survived by his wife, Paula Kay (Sergent) Albright, whom he wed July 6, 1979; their children: Bob Albright of Huron and Kelly (Josh) Radcliff of Galion; grandchildren: Natalie Hornbeck (fiancé, Hayden Vent), Max Hornbeck, Cohen Albright, and Izabella Radcliff; his siblings: Jan (Michele) Graves, Tom (Cheryl) Graves, and Rita (Rick) Stanton; in-laws: Susie Sergent and Colleen Sergent (Rich Jones); and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Les was preceded in death by his mother: Helen (Albright) Graves; father: Floyd Albright; stepfather: Granville Graves; sisters: Terry Metzger and Susan Norris; and in-laws: Paul and Merline Sergent.

Family and friends are welcome on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 5-7 pm at the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Burial will be private in Oakland Cemetery, Shelby. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (http://www.stjude.org/donate).
