Michael Ray “Mike” Miracle, age 78, of Shelby, passed away Sunday morning, January 18, 2026, at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
Born October 29, 1947, in Vanceburg, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Warren Howard and Irene (Carver) Miracle. A 1965 graduate of Galion High School, Mike went on to spend nearly 40 years at the former PPG in Crestline.
An avid softball player and bowler, Mike also gave back to his community by coaching and umpiring Little League games—famously doing so in sandals. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether gardening, fishing, or simply taking in the fresh air, and loved reminiscing about the good old days. A dedicated baseball card collector, he also had a deep appreciation for music, enjoying everything from Elton John and the Rolling Stones to, more recently, bluegrass.
A simple man with simple pleasures, Mike enjoyed being outdoors—whether gardening, fishing, or simply taking in the fresh air—and he loved reminiscing about the good old days. He carried an easygoing outlook on life and often summed it up with characteristic simplicity, saying with a smirk, “If you were my friend, great. If you weren’t my friend, great.”
Mike was a devoted and supportive husband and father in all of his family’s endeavors. He married Rebecca Jane “Becky” (Brutchey) Miracle on March 24, 1967. She preceded him in death on January 15, 2021. Surviving are his children: Michael (Marla) Miracle of Shelby and Sara (David) Ring of Westerville; grandchildren: Noah (Laney) Ring, Abigail Ring, and Autumn Irene Miracle; siblings: Mary Beth Palmer of Loudonville and Howard Dalton Miracle of Daytona Beach, FL; and numerous other relatives and close friends: Travis and Arthur. In addition to his wife and parents, Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Sherri Miracle.
Calling hours and funeral services will be private. Mike will be buried with Becky in Oakland Cemetery, Shelby. Memorial contributions may be made to Marvin Memorial Library, 29 West Whitney Avenue, Shelby, OH 44875.
Care for Mike and his family is being provided by the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Condolences may be left on the funeral home’s website at PenwellFuneralHome.com or on its Facebook page.

Sorry to hear about Mike. He came down to Bases Loaded about once a week to get some cards. In the summer he would bring Rex some hot peppers out of his garden. He was such a nice guy. I enjoyed talking with him. I will be and have been missing him lately.
Andy and I were so very saddened by the news of Mikes passing. He was a great guy and we loved him and Becky very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
I worked with Mike at PPG and talked baseball all the time… I kept telling him about my childhood hero Rocky Colavito…. One day while on break he gave me a rare Rocky baseball card… I offered to pay for it and he said … “No, just promise me you will always keep it”… I still treasure the card… R.I.P. Mike, i will see you soon…..
So sorry Sara and Michael, I didn’t even know that your mom had passed on so sorry about her too. Your dad was well respected and hard to believe that you 2 are without both parents, you are in my prayers.
To the Miracle Family,
Mike was a “good guy”. Mike graduated with Ron. Ron and Mike played baseball together. Please accept our sympathies and prayers for the passing of Mike.
