We are very sad to acknowledge the passing of another ’66 Classmate. Rest in peace Susan.
Paulette, so sorry about your sister. Please know I’m praying for you all.
I was very saddened to hear about Aunt Sue’s passing. We spoke on the phone about seven months ago trying to plan a much-needed family reunion, which sadly didn’t materialize. As kids, my sister (Mandy) and I spent many Saturday nights at Aunt Sue’s house on Steele Ave babysitted as our parents went out. Our mom was Linda Hicks, sister of Aunt Sue. Thinking back, I believe I spent close to 1/3 my life with Aunt Sue as our babysitter. I recall watching many movies as Aunt Sue always had a large bowl of freshly cooked popcorn and drinks for Mandy and I. Wrestling was on many Saturday nights which Sue let us watch and I remember Cousin Jenny telling me how ugly Hulk Hogan was. That has always stayed stuck in my memories. Funny stuff to me. These were the times in your life where everything was most fun, and life was stress free. I have so many good memories as a youngster of the family get togethers with Aunt Sue and all the other family members cooking all that amazing food, especially on Thanksgiving. I know life changes; we all grow older, and our lives become rat races. I know it was extremely difficult when Sue lost both Jeff and then Jenny. Their time was cut way too short; both favorite cousins of mine and I miss them tremendously and think about them often. I am sure that Aunt Sue is once again happy to be reunited with her amazing children. The early times in my life with Aunt Sue and the family are moments I will never forget. May the Lord bless Aunt Sue. Thank you, Aunt Sue, for the movies, the popcorn and the good memories…
