Charles Thomas “Charlie” Warren, age 78, of Milan, died peacefully Monday afternoon, September 21, 2026 at Admiral’s Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Huron.
Charlie was born June 7, 1948 in Sandusky, the son of the late Alvin and Esther (Studer) Warren. A graduate of St. Mary Central Catholic High School in Sandusky, Charlie furthered his educated at John Carroll University where he was active in ROTC and graduated with a degree in accounting. He then enlisted in the United Stated Army serving his country for nearly three years in Fort Lee, VA being honorably discharged in 1973 at the rank of First Lieutenant.
Charlie’s career was spent as a CPA in the banking industry working for several banking operations through their various mergers and acquisitions. He ultimately retired from Charter One Bank. While working, Charlie additionally earned a master’s degree in accounting from Cleveland State. Following retirement, Charlie also worked for Cole Distributing for four years.
Charlie’s lifelong interest in finance, coupled with his kind and genuine nature, served him well in the activities he occupied his time with throughout his life and community. He was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Milan where he volunteered in many ways, including the finance committee. Charlie enjoyed his many trips with area veterans transporting them to and from appointments in Cleveland and also served several years as the treasurer of the Milan Museum.
Charlie was a lifelong runner having competed in many races over the years including, as he would say, “running six marathons- two of them in Boston.” It was fitting that his final race, which was encouraged by a friend, was just two years ago at the Milan Melon Festival 5k Run where he finished 2nd in his age bracket.
Family meant the world to Charlie. Together with his wife, Celia, they traveled from coast to coast to be active in their lives and vacation together. Charlie married Cecelia (Rietschlin) Tuttle on August 26, 2000. Celia survives along with their children: Julie McKee (Michael Montgomery) of Portland, OR, Janna Warren of Pickerington, Nathan (Jenny) Tuttle of Worthington, Justin (Monica) Tuttle of Crestline, Emily (Shaun) Fox of Ravenna, and Adam (Maria) Tuttle of Boston, MA; grandchildren: Zach McKee, Sam and Will Tuttle, Noah Tuttle, Aiden, Ava, and Addison Fox, and Olive Tuttle; siblings: Penny (Chet) Solem of FL, Therese (Chuck) Bower of GA, and Allen (Valerie) Warren of OR; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Leonard and Idonna Rietschlin.
Family and friends are welcome on (PLEASE NOTE EXACT DATE) Saturday, November, 7, 2026 from 9:30-10:30 am at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Social Hall, 130 South Main Street, Milan, OH 44846 where Charlie’s Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 10:30 in the adjoining church. Fr. Tony Recker will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Cemetery, Bethlehem, Shelby Settlement. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church or to the Milan Museum.
