Gloria June Turner, age 73, of Shelby, died peacefully Saturday morning, September 26, 2026 at her home. Her death follows a courageous battle with Glioblastoma.
Gloria was born January 25, 1953 in Shelby, the daughter of the late G. Ray and Eileen M. (Henry) Ingram. A 1971 graduate of Shelby High School, Gloria’s 38 ½ year career was spent with the Tuby in Shelby, retiring under the ArcelorMittal ownership. Following retirement, Gloria enjoyed working for Ace Hardware in Shelby.
Gloria was absolutely meticulous in everything she did, a trait that was especially evident in her love of woodworking. Over the years, she made countless projects, including clocks, trinket boxes, night lights, and other creations, always taking great care and pride in her work. She also thoroughly enjoyed golfing.
Family was incredibly important to Gloria, and she especially loved the time they spent together at family gatherings. She enjoyed cooking for everyone, with her famous mashed potatoes always being a favorite. She also looked forward to traveling to Kentucky for visits, trips that brought her much enjoyment over the years. In the kitchen, she enjoyed making strawberry jam and freezing sweet corn, and when she wanted a snack of her own, Orville Redenbacher white popcorn was her craving of choice.
Gloria loved her dogs and treasured each one she had throughout the years, including her current companions, Bentley and Ranger. She was also a very good neighbor, the kind of person who cared about those around her and took pride in being there for others. Gloria was a member of First Lutheran Church in Shelby.
Gloria is survived by her son: Brent Turner of Shelby; grandchildren: Aiden Turner, Nicholas (Mikayla) Smith, and Abilene Honaker; great-grandchildren: Theo and Grayson; siblings: Cindy Gordon, Stan (Darlene) Ingram, Bonnie Hall, and Kathy (Bill) Morton; sister-in-law: Barb Ingram; aunt: Sue Wetz; and many special cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her stepmother: Barbara Moon Ingram; brother: Wayne Ingram; brothers-in-law: Martin Hall and Howard Gordon; and special cousin: Nancy Nealis.
Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 5-7 pm at the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 10:30 am. Rev. Dr. Russel Yoak will officiate the services with burial following in Oakland Cemetery, Shelby. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richland County Humane Society (hsrcohio.org/donate).
