Janice Faye Moore, age 87, of Shelby, died peacefully Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
Janice was born August 18, 1939 in Fort Gay, WV, the oldest daughter of the late Ivory Douglas and Shirley Maye (McKenzie) Blevins. On April 23, 1955, Janice married John Clinton Moore. Together, they raised five children and built a family that continued to grow through the generations. Nothing brought Janice greater joy than her family, and she treasured the time spent with those she loved. Janice and John shared 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2015.
Janice was an incredibly active and devoted member of Taylortown Community Church, where she faithfully participated in nearly every church function and group. She enjoyed cooking, tending to her vegetable garden, and canning the fruits of her labor. She also had a love for flower gardening, quilting, and simply being outdoors, especially when she could relax and enjoy the surroundings from her porch.
Throughout her working career, Janice was employed at Fisher Fazio’s Grocery Store and Hawkins Market, both in Mansfield, retiring from the latter.
Janice is survived by her children: Karen June (James) Channing of Plymouth, Sharon (Jerry) Tackett of Shelby, Pamela Barker of Bucyrus, Douglas (Kathy) Moore of Shelby, and John (Crystal) Moore of Shelby; grandchildren: Aden Channing, Jill Channing (Alison Maddux), Rachael (Keith) Westler, Adam (Josselyn) Sweet, Jessica (James) Converse, Gram Dick (Acadia Caryl), Joshua Moore, Erica Meadows, John Yates, Thorin Moore, Kim (Paul) Shaeffer, Todd Barker, and Megan (Ryan) Rhodes; great-grandchildren: Alivia, Natalie, Mitchell, Nicholas, Mallorie, Lexi, Trey, Amelia, Lucy, Daniel, Dalton, Jaymie, Jace, Jocelyn, Londyn, Kohen, Brysten, Serenity, Paisley, Mia, Ryan, and Cecilia; great-great-grandchildren: James, Gavin, Mylah, Annaleigh, and Rory; siblings: Gayle (Richard) Orr, Romana (Norman) Walker, Glenn (Sharlene) Blevins, Randy (Judy) Blevins, Rick (Debby) Blevins, and Larry (Vickie) Blevins; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
