Kurt W. Albert, age 67, of Ontario, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, August 15, 2026 at his home with his wife, Brandy, at his side.

Kurt was born June 21, 1959 in Shelby, the son of the late Kennth W. and Jean M. (Hart) Albert. Kurt graduated from Shelby High School in 1977. His career was spent in the mortgage industry, initially with Modern Finance from 1979-1986, and finally with Swain/Stonegate Mortgage in Mansfield in their mortgage default servicing department from where he retired in 2016.

It wasn’t by accident that Kurt held the nickname “Chirpy.” He could hardly finish a sentence without including a swear word, giving an opinion, or complaining about something all while also including laughs, jokes, and punchlines to ruffle someone’s feathers. But that was the same Kurt Albert who would drop anything at any time to provide a helping hand, especially for family, and on any project with his brothers, Kenny and Todd.

Kurt’s hobbies were simple but kept him busy. He loved golfing and traveled many times to play. He also loved mowing grass and dabbled in the occasional gambling (dabbled and occasional are used loosely). But truly it was time with family that he tried not to let pass by.

Even though no one thought it could be possible, Kurt softened up a bit when he met Brandy Brewer. And the world was even more surprised when they married on June 22, 2016. Nonetheless, it was a good relationship and marriage which was perhaps what Kurt always waited for and needed. Brandy (Myers) Brewer, Kurt’s wife, survives along with his stepchildren: Morgan (Zec) Speelman, Molly (Jed) Hendershott, Branson Brooke, and Moriah Brooke; grandson: Ezra Speelman; siblings: Pam (Joe) Wetton, Kenny (Cathie) Albert, and Jody (Merv) Eichorn; sister-in-law: Lorna Albert; numerous nieces and nephews; his in-laws: Bob and Dianne Myers; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Kurt was preceded in death by his brother: Todd Albert; and sister-in-law: Heather Jones.

It was Kurt’s wish following his death that his immediate family have a private gathering with no public services. Care for Kurt and his family is being provided by the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Condolences may be left on their website (PenwellFuneralHome.com) or Facebook.
