Randy Ray McClain, age 72, of Shelby, passed away early Friday morning, June 12, 2026, at Centerburg Pointe in Centerburg. His death follows health complication as a result of a car accident on October 8, 2025.

Born July 19, 1953, in Shelby, Randy was the son of the late Avery and Bertha (Creech) McClain. A 1973 graduate of Shelby High School, he also attended Pioneer Joint Vocational School’s welding program. Throughout his life, Randy had a deep passion for cars. He loved everything about them whether buying and selling at auctions, working on projects, or spending time around anything automotive. If it involved cars, Randy was all in.

Randy is survived by his sisters: Donna Blanton and Rhonda (Lee) Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his siblings: Danny McClain, Diana Mabe, infant twin brothers Billy & Eddie McClain; and brother in law: Gary Blanton. 

Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 10 -11 am at the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will immediately follow at 11 am. Pastor Nick Kelley will officiate the services. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 185 S Gamble St, Shelby, OH 44875.
